Allergy Lab

ENTAC Houston's Allergy Lab is dedicated to providing diagnosis and treatment to Houston, and all surrounding communities.

Our physicians are trained to determine the cause of allergies, whether they are related to or caused by foods, environmental factors, drugs, or from other sources, such as any topical creams a patient may be using.

Below is a list of some common conditions our lab treats:
- Asthma
- Dermatitis
- Eczema
- Food Allergies
- Hay Fever
- Hives
- Rhinitis
- Sinusitis

Sinus Surgery

In the event that medication (antibiotics, decongestants, nasal steroid sprays, antihistamines, etc.) and/or procedures prove ineffective in treatment, our physicians offer patients surgical options to enlarge the openings that drain the sinuses. Surgery is typically only decided upon after both the physician and the patient have found the infections to be either non-responsive to medication, or simply recurrent.

Snoring

Snoring is a common sleep disorder affects people of all ages, although it occurs more frequently in men, and in people who are overweight. Studies show that up to 45% of adults snore occasionally, while 25% are considered habitual snorers.

Our physicians offer a variety of treatment options that may reduce or eliminate snoring. While there are devices marketed to help prevent snoring, none of them address the underlying anatomical problems that cause snoring - such as nasal obstruction or obesity, so surgery may be needed to correct physical problems.

The right treatment for any sleep disorder depends on the cause, so we encourage you to schedule and appointment with ENTAC Houston for diagnoses and treatment.

Audiology Clinic

Our Audiology Clinic is an integral part of our ear, nose, and throat practice. Our ENT physicians bring area expertise for diseases of the ear, and patients enjoy the benefits of our practice's highly sophisticated diagnostic procedures and amplification systems.

Our physicians can evaluate, diagnose, and treat the entire spectrum of ear disorders, and our facility boasts state-of-the-art medical instruments, ensuring our patients receive the highest level of care and service to all patients, both pediatric and adult.

Myringotomy

Myringotomy is a surgical procedure in which a tiny incision is created in the eardrum, so as to relieve pressure caused by the excessive build-up of fluid. Myringotomy is often performed as a treatment for acute suppurative otitis media.

Otolaryngologists can perform myringotomy and tube placement in our clinic, generally using topical anesthetic, and most of our patients report a rapid return of their hearing.

Tympanoplasty

Tympanoplasty is the surgical operation performed for the reconstruction of the eardrum and/or the small bones of the middle ear.

There are several options for the treatment of a perforated eardrum. If the perforation is from recent trauma, our ENT specialists will frequently elect to first watch and see if it heals on its own. After that, surgery may be considered. The surgery takes anywhere from 1-3 hours, is done under local or general anesthesia, and enjoys a success rate as high as 90%.

Tonsillectomy

Tonsillectomy is a 3,000 year old surgical procedure in which the tonsils are removed from either side of the throat.

The procedure is performed in response to cases of repeated occurrence of acute tonsillitis or adenoiditis, obstructive sleep apnea, nasal airway obstruction, or snoring, among others. For children, the adenoids are frequently removed at the same time, a procedure known as adenoidectomy, but this is uncommon in adults.

Tonsillectomy remains one of the most common surgical procedures in the United States.

Adenoidectomy

Adenoidectomy is the surgical removal of the adenoids.

They may be removed for several reasons, including impaired breathing through the nose or chronic infections or earaches, are largely performed on children, and less common for adults. It is most often done on an outpatient basis under general anesthesia.

Post-operative pain is generally minimal and prevented with an abundance of icy or cold foods, but spicy foods should be avoided.

This procedure is frequently paired with tonsillectomy, in situations where needed. Recovery time can range from several hours to several days, depending in part on the age of the patient.

Adenoidectomy is not often performed on children under 6, as the adenoids aid the body's immune system, but become vestigial organs in adults.
